Six Months Later

“Ready babe?” Carter asks, his voice loud through the apartment.

I moved in with him a couple of weeks after our night in the club. We’ve been together every night since. I’ve never been so in love before. He’s perfect for me and our life together is amazing. He’s my best friend, but I’ll never tell my girls that.

“Coming,” I call as I walk out of our bedroom, hitting the light switch and the room is shrouded in darkness.

When I hit the sitting room, Carter’s eyes find me and lust seeps into them when he looks over me. I roll my eyes, he always does this, even after six months he still looks at me as though he wants to eat me. “Gorgeous,” he says and his hands come to lay on my stomach, “How’s our princess?”

Turns out that I can have children. I got pregnant that very first week we were together and while it came as a huge shock to the both of us, we’re extremely happy. We’re having a girl and we’ve got her room ready, as we’re both excited to meet her.

“She’s good, sleeping at the moment and I’m grateful.” I laugh, she loves kicking and has her days and nights mixed up.

“Come on, babe, let’s go.” He grabs my hand and leads us out of the apartment.

Every Friday is date night, it’s our night to unwind. We keep our personal life out of work. Although, everyone knows we’re dating, we don’t rub it in everyone’s faces.

Dinner is fantastic and as always being with Cater I have the best time, I’ve never felt so much peace as I do when I’m with him.

“Desert?” he asks and I stare at him, he smirks. “I’ll take that as a no.”

“We have ice-cream at home,” I tell him as I raise a brow and he laughs.

He pays for our meal and we walk out of the restaurant. “You look beautiful tonight, Hailey.”

I rest my head against his shoulder. “Thank you, you look extremely handsome, you know how much I love you in a suit.”

He grins as he places a kiss on my lips. “Marry me, Hails, I love you and I know that I’m going to spend the rest of my life with you. Marry me?”

I stare up at him in shock. “Yes,” I whisper, unable to believe this is happening, but he’s right. I don’t see myself with anyone but him. He’s the love of my life.

“Fuck,” he growls. “I love you so much, babe.”

My heart is ready to burst. “And I you.”

I’m jostled and Carter pulls me closer to him. “Watch it,” he says and I turn to see who was the rude asshole that pushed into me and my body freezes as I see Dylan standing there staring at us.

“Hailey,” he says in shock.

“Dylan,” I reply without any emotion and Carter’s arm on me holds me tighter.

“You look…” his eyes widen when he takes in my pregnant stomach. “You’re having a baby?”

I nod. “Yeah, guess we were never meant to have one.
